The Exhibition Space

There are exhibition spaces in the atrium on the ground floor, as well as on the three upper floors.

Types of work suitable for the exhibition space

The ARB is suitable for work that is ready to be hung using our existing hanging rail system or can be placed on plinths and in display cabinets on the ground floor. We are not able to add any fixtures to the walls for heavy objects/screens. Due to the nature of the building we are not able to display installation work or free-standing sculptures or sound works without headphones. We have one wall-mounted screen available for video works and film. When writing a proposal please take into consideration that the Alison Richard Building is not a dedicated gallery but a diverse place of study and work and that artworks deemed too explicit or offensive to some building users will not be selected.

Hanging system and floor plans

Hanging space is available on all four floors, with hanging rails installed throughout the building. Artworks must be ready to hang and have either string or D-rings attached at the back for hanging with our system. We are not able to install artworks that require drilling into walls. For very small or light works we are able to use Command Strips that can be attached directly to the walls.

Floor plans with wall measurements are available on request. Five unlockable display plinths are also available, measurements are provided on request.
