CamCRAG charity auction & arts event

25 June 2022, 13:30 – 17:00 at the Alison Richard Building

Celebrating artists and supporting refugees

Cambridge Convoy Refugee Action Group (CamCRAG) is holding a Summer Arts Fair at the Alison Richard Building to mark Refugee Week, raising funds for refugees in Europe from Ukraine, Afghanistan and elsewhere. On sale will be artworks from over 100 local artists, some of whom have offered a fabulous opportunity to win an original artwork in the raffle. Home-made jams, cakes and refreshments will also be on offer, as well as crafts made by refugees in Greece from recycled materials.

Visitors are warmly invited to take part in a public art project with renowned contemporary artist Luciana Rosado. A former Artist in Residence at ARU and Artist-Researcher at Newnham College, Luciana has exhibited widely in the UK and Portugal. She will be leading a community tapestry project aimed at both adults and children.

Local folk music legends Jon Betmead and Tom Ling will be playing and the Fair will be opened by Lord Smith, Master of Pembroke College and former Arts Minister. Pembroke College has a number of refugee scholars as well as close links with the Council for At-Risk Academics and the City of Sanctuary movement.

Children are very welcome and entry is free. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend.
